Community Open Studio Wildfire Collage Workshop

February 18 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

You are invited to attend one of the two upcoming FREE collage workshops: Sunday, February 18 from 2-4 p.m. in Angwin or Friday, February 23 from 3-5 p.m. in St. Helena.

These community-based workshops are part of a research project on how to build wildfire adaptive communities. All Napa, Lake and Sonoma County residents and firefighters are invited to join this important community conversation reflecting on our individual and community experiences with wildfire. To register – https://forms.gle/xEuZDztEWmdiKSWj6 (If you are interested in joining future workshops you can use the same link and indicate in the comments you are interested in learning about future workshop dates.)

Art therapy doctoral student and wildfire evacuee, Leticia Rosado Russell, is interested in providing space for storytelling and in learning alongside fellow community members living in wildfire impacted communities.

Creating art together provides a space to listen, to witness how the wildfires in our region have affected our lives and to learn how we have each navigated our way through. Making space for our individual and collective stories is another way we can promote resilience and prepare for future wildfire events. Artmaking can make space for experiences we don’t yet have words for and can inspire dialogue of what we learn in the process of creating together. NO ARTISTIC EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.

What do we live for, if not to make life less difficult for each other? – George Eliot
