SUMMARY:American Canyon Grazing Demonstration Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join Napa Firewise\, the Napa Pasture Protein grazing team\, and the American Canyon Fire Protection District for a guided community tour exploring how managed grazing helps reduce wildfire risk while supporting healthier landscapes. \n\n\n\nAcross much of Napa County\, seasonal grasses grow quickly in the spring and dry out as summer approaches. These fine fuels can carry fire rapidly across open spaces. Managed grazing helps reduce that fuel load early and consistently—breaking up fuel continuity and creating more resilient landscapes over time. \n\n\n\nDuring this family-friendly tour\, you’ll meet the grazing animals doing the work and hear directly from the land managers coordinating the project. \n\n\n\nTogether\, we’ll walk through the grazing area at Silver Oak Park and discuss how this approach fits into American Canyon’s broader wildfire preparedness strategy. \n\n\n\nWhat You’ll Learn\n\n\n\n\nHow managed grazing reduces wildfire risk\n\n\n\nWhy seasonal grasses are considered “fine fuels” in wildfire behavior\n\n\n\nThe long-term ecological benefits of grazing for open spaces\n\n\n\nThe challenges and considerations involved in implementing grazing programs\n\n\n\nHow grazing complements other wildfire resilience strategies\n\n\n\n\nMeet the Grazers\n\n\n\nYou’ll also meet the sheep helping manage vegetation in the park. The grazing team will share how the animals are guided through landscapes safely and effectively\, and answer questions about the process. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWhat to Bring \n\n\n\n\nComfortable walking shoes suitable for uneven terrain\n\n\n\nWater bottle\n\n\n\nCuriosity and questions
