The Valley Stewards Initiative

Support the Valley Stewards Fund

Every gap in the landscape
puts the whole valley at risk.

Wildfire doesn’t respect property lines. When a strategically critical parcel goes unmanaged — because the landowner lacks the means — it creates a gap that can unravel an entire network of well-managed properties around it. The Valley Stewards Fund exists to close those gaps.

Where Your Gift Goes

Funding the work that holds the system together.

Gifts to the Valley Stewards Fund support one focused mission: ensuring that the properties most critical to Napa County’s wildfire resilience get the professional assessment, mapping, and CAL FIRE integration they need — regardless of whether the landowner can pay for it.

Field Work

Assessment & planning on the ground

Professional site visits, GIS mapping, and Master Resilience Plans for high-priority properties that would otherwise go undocumented and unprotected.

Operational Integration

Getting sites into CAL FIRE’s systems

Delivering completed site data directly into CAL FIRE’s Tablet Command — so first responders arrive at a fire knowing exactly what’s been done, where, and what conditions they’ll find.

Network Building

Connecting neighbors into a resilient landscape

The relationship work that builds contiguous networks of participating properties — because a single site matters less than a connected landscape that slows fire at scale.

Built With CAL FIRE

Not designed around the system —built into it.

The Enhanced Resilience Site program was developed in direct partnership with CAL FIRE and Napa County Fire, built to their operational specifications, and integrated into the systems first responders actually use.

When a property becomes an Enhanced Resilience Site, it doesn’t just get a plan — it becomes operationally visible in Tablet Command. That’s the difference between documentation and impact. Your gift funds that the critical work needed and the integration.

The Case for Acting Now

The work is proven. Wildfire will not wait.We must move with urgency and scale with efficiency.

But the properties most likely to become dangerous gaps are already identified. The landowners are willing. What’s needed is the funding to move them through the process.

A gift to the Valley Stewards Fund today accelerates that work — closing gaps that put our entire community at greater risk.

“The only way we can effectively deal with the wildfire risks in the Napa Valley is by working together.  Napa Firewise and the Valley Stewards Initiative brings together the support and strategic plan to mount an effective “pro-active” response.  Combining with County, State, and Federal resources, private donations are essential to kick start this initiative and fill in the gaps.  We are proud to be among the Valley Stewards and encourage others to join us!.”
