The recent Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP), completed in 2020 with Napa County, gave new momentum to this work, helping prioritize high-risk areas and leading to historic county investments in community resilience.
Working with funders such as CAL FIRE and PG&E, we’ve created strategic fuel breaks, protected critical infrastructure, and implemented largescale forest health projects.
Recent wildfire incidents are proving that fuel mitigation strategies in the county are effective. Investments from the Napa Valley Vintners to re-establish old fire roads are being used in firefighter response and tactical strategy.
Our interactive project dashboard offers residents a transparent view of what’s been completed, what’s underway, and what’s planned for the next 2–5 years, including projects we hope to fund.
Many wildfire resilience projects happen across a mix of public and private land. By signing a Landowner Access Agreement, you give Napa Firewise permission to evaluate your property as part of larger fuel reduction projects.
While signing an agreement does not guarantee work will occur on your land, it is a critical step in scoping and prioritizing projects. With landowner participation, we can design fuel breaks, improve access routes, and identify the treatments that will best protect high-risk communities.
