Atlas Peak Repeater Grazing Project Tour
November 19 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Join NCFF, Land Trust of Napa County, grazing contractor Napa Pasture Protein, and others as we tour a recent Cal Fire funded wildfire mitigation project and learn about how grazing is used as a tool for wildfire fuel reduction. This will be a rare opportunity to visit a site – way off the beaten path – to learn about protecting assets and habitat in rugged terrain, and the challenges and successes as we partner to weave together a wildfire resilient landscape.
On the way up Atlas Peak road, participants will see roadside fuel reduction projects. At the top of Atlas Peak Rd, we will catch a ride in UTVs to the grazing site. Napa Firewise Vegetation Management team, Land Trust of Napa County, and grazer Cori Carlson will provide insight into why grazing was used for fuel reduction to protect this important communications asset.
This outing will include a short walking tour over uneven terrain. Please wear shoes suitable for walking off road, bring personal hydration such as a water bottle, and prepare for sweeping views. RSVP required as space is limited. Heavy rain will cancel.
