Napa Communities Firewise Foundation is expanding pre-positioned field stations to 24 locations across every battalion unit in the county. Each box, developed by FlameMapper, contains maps, flash drives, and coordination tools so mutual aid crews arriving from out of town have the local knowledge they need before fire conditions make learning it impossible.
This network was built by the community — individual donors through the Napa Valley Can Do Give Guide, Fire Safe Councils, Adventist Health St. Helena, who sponsored the Deer Park box at a location with deep fire history and hundreds of nearby homes, and Circle Oaks County Water District who funded the Circle Oaks installation. That kind of cross-sector investment — health systems, water districts, neighbors, and nonprofits aligned around a shared risk — is exactly the model that builds durable wildfire resilience.
