Spring Street Clean Up

St. Helena and Spring Mountain Fire Safe Councils recently completed a joint project on the west side of St. Helena. The Spring Street project creates a shaded fuel break on either side of Spring Street at the far edge of town, where the town meets the forest.

This clearing of excess understory vegetation along the roadway will help provide safe ingress and egress for the community of White Sulphur Springs Road, emergency crews, and contribute to a fuel break separating the forest from the town of St Helena. Removing lower branches and raising the tree canopy helps to prevent crown fires and protects trees and wildlife, as well as our residential communities.
