Fuel Reduction Project – Mt. Veeder Fire Safe Council

A roadside hazardous fuel reduction project began May 4th along Wall Rd in the western hills of Napa Valley.  This type of project targets dead/dying trees and hazardous fuels to limit fire intensity and prevent potential obstructions to the road during a wildfire event.  The main goal is to provide safer access for emergency services and safer evacuation routes in the event of a wildfire. This rural road also provides firefighter access to an important ridge top fuel break Napa Firewise is working on along the Napa/Sonoma county line. The Wall Road section of the project was completed on May 23rd and crews have moved on to Dry Creek Rd. In all, HOW MNY roadsides will be completed within the Mt Veeder FSC in the coming month.
