Silverado Fire Safe Fair

Silverado Fire Safe Fair Draws Over 300 Attendees to Learn About Wildfire Preparedness

The all-volunteer Silverado Fire Safe Council, in partnership with Silverado Resort & Spa, Napa Firewise and CALFIRE/Napa County, held a Fire Safe Fair for the benefit of Napa County residents on August 4, 2022. An estimated crowd of 300 attended the free event at the historic Silverado Resort, to meet wildfire prevention experts & service providers, and local nonprofits active in fire preparedness and education. Featured speakers included Senator Bill Dodd, Napa County Supervisor Alfredo Pedroza, Napa County Fire Chief Jason Martin, Silverado Fire Safe Council lead Susan Deringer, Silverado Resort Managing Director Todd Shallan and Napa Firewise Board of Directors member Linda Cantey. About the event, Susan Deringer says, “We’re delighted with the response to our biggest community outreach event to date. Our mutual goal is to spread the message of our shared responsibility for how to prepare for the next wildfire, which makes all of us safer. We’re grateful to the Silverado Resort for their hospitality, to CALFIRE for their extraordinary contributions to the success of this event, and to our distinguished speakers for their support and leadership on this issue.”

Popular elements of this family-oriented event were baby goats, such as those used to clear hazardous brush; a therapy dog; modern and vintage Napa County fire trucks; cornhole games and fire hats for the kids; CALFIRE’s furry mascot Captain Cal; and a raffle featuring original artwork, wine, Go-Bags, exclusive fire prevention services and home hardening evaluations, all offered for a $20 ticket. The raffle raised $1200 towards event costs. An assortment of Napa Valley wines & Original Burger Dogs were for sale.
